Meet Grace
Yoga teacher. Wilderness guide. Alaskan at heart.
I’m Grace Fawbush, founder of Graceful Bear Yoga. As a registered yoga teacher and wilderness guide, I believe nature is our most powerful teacher.
I grew up drawn to wild places, and Alaska claimed me completely. The glaciers, the old-growth forests, the magnificent wildlife, and the silence on the water — this landscape has shaped everything about how I move, breathe, and teach.
My yoga practice began as a personal anchor during years of outdoor work — leading groups through remote terrain, working with marine wildlife programs, and studying marine biology. I found that the same principles that keep you grounded on waters edge — presence, breath, trust — are the ones that transform a yoga practice.
I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training and have continued deepening my study in somatic movement, and nature-based wellness. I integrate breathwork and forest meditation to connect back to the present moment. Escaping comfort to dive deep into who we authentically are. My classes draw on the rhythms of the natural world: slow, intentional, and rooted in the body's own intelligence.
I guide small groups on immersive yoga and wilderness retreats in Southeast Alaska — partnering with Alaska Mountain Guides to bring people into landscapes that genuinely change you. Whether you're stepping onto a mat for the first time or you're a seasoned practitioner, my intention is the same: to help you arrive more fully in your own body, and in the world around you.
My Teaching Philosophy
"The wilderness doesn't ask you to be anything other than what you are. That's exactly what I want your practice to feel like."
I teach yoga the way Alaska teaches me — with patience, with presence, and with deep respect for what each person brings to the mat. My classes are accessible, grounding, and always connected to the natural world.
